Uri-XI lost to Pune-XI in a cricket match organised under the banner of Uri-Pune Friendship Cricket trophy by Aseem foundation Pune, where the selected Uri-XI teams representing their state JK took part.
It was a match between Pune-XI and Uri-XI based in Pune. The Pune-XI team beat Uri-Xi by 40 runs on Sunday. Due to rain the match was limited to 17 overs.
Pune XI won the toss and elected to bat first and put a decent run chase of 145 on board for Uri-XI in 17 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Uri XI started their chase in great hopes, but the guest team managed to reach 104 runs in 15.2 overs for the loss of 10 wickets.
Captain of the host team, Ameya Shrikhande was declared as the Man of the Match with 3 wickets and not-out on 54 runs.
Sourabh Sankalecha awarded by the best batsman for his brilliant knock of 37 runs in 24 balls.
Pune team handed over the trophy to the guest team after a decent win, shows exactly the initiative was about "Friendship Trophy".
Chief Guest, General Jalaj Bhola watched the entire match and appreciated both the teams for their efforts. Bhola said, We need to understand that sports is one of the main medium to get to know each other therefore the bonding starts to relate each other. If we don’t give opportunities to youth to reach different destinations then it will be like a frog in the well, where youth will not get a chance to explore their talent and passion, said Bhola.
Bhola said, it is a very important aspect in life of a nation to build a mutual understanding that is how we can bring bonding as a unit. I am sure that the things are improving in JK and we are heading in the right direction to be able to relate each other. Sports is one of the best platforms where one is able to project dreams of a state, that is how people start knowing, differentiating each other and this is the best initiative taken by Aseem foundation Pune, added Bhola.
President Aseem foundation Pune Sarang Goswami, said Jammu and Kashmir has a lot of potential and the initiative is taken to reach out to youth of valley to give them a platform where they can perform and boost their talent. Kashmir is close to my heart; I have personally seen the humanity and hospitality of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and want to give them the main direction to cope their dreams and goals, added Sarang.
