Power woes continued in the Kashmir valley, including summer capital, Srinagar, where metered areas also face frequent power cuts despite repeated directions from the government to Power Development Department (PDD) to supply power as per schedule announced earlier.
Power supply went off on Saturday morning in majority areas in the old city, Civil Lines and outskirts.
Reports of protests are being received almost daily from different parts of the Valley, including Srinagar, where frequent and unscheduled power cuts have returned to haunt the people since ‘Darbar’ seat of the government shifted to winter capital, Jammu.
Officials here on Saturday said in order to carry out replacement of 33KV isolator of 30 MVAR shunt capacitor, top tiers, droppers, jumpers and other maintenance work in the grid station, the 150 MVA/33KV Grid Station, Bemina will be shutdown from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs today.
“The power supply to the area fed from the grid station shall remain affected till 1700 hrs,” he added.
