Patients use ‘Kangris’ in Pattan hospital

Patients use traditional ‘Kangris’ (firepots) inside their beds at Trauma Hospital Pattan here in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The hospital management has not started central heating system even in this chilly season. Patients and attendants can be seen using kangris inside the hospital. A number of patients told Kashmir News Trust that despite repeated requests the management didn’t start central heating system in the hospital.
“It’s unbearable cold here. I brought a kangri for my relative patient who is admitted in the hospital. Kangri is the only option left with us as hospital management resort to lies only. Last week, they had promised that heating system will be started here but nothing was done to provide any relief to the patients,” Shabir Ahmed said.
Block Medical Officer Dr Kounsar assured that central heating system will be started in two days. When asked she repeated the same sentence last month as well, Dr Kounsar said that heating system had developed some problems and it has been repaired now.
Pertinently, Directorate of Health Service Kashmir directed all the hospitals to run Central Heating System after the snow furry that brought temperatures almost below to freezing point.(KNT)
