Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Chairman has accepted resignation of former Peoples Democratic Party leader from Jammu Vikramaditya Singh.
Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council on Friday issued a notification, confirming the seat has fallen vacant with effect from October 24.
JKLC Secretary’s notification read: “Vikranaditya Singh, member of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council has tendered his resignation from the membership of the House on 24th October, 2017.”
Notification said Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council “has been pleased to accept his resignation.”
“Accordingly, the seat which was occupied by Vikramaditya Singh has fallen vacant with effect from October 24,” notification read.
Singh resigned from the ruling PDP on Oct 22, alleging the party (PDP) was ignoring Jammu region and not acting on his demand for deportation of Rohingya refugees from the state.
Singh, who is the grandson of last Dogra ruler Maharaja Hari Singh and son of senior Congress leader Karan Singh, had stated: “I had entered into politics on the request of late Mufti sahib. I put my faith in his vision of complete integration of the state but unfortunately the party has failed to carry forward his vision..”
Earlier Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, who is also PDP President, had also accepted his resignation from her party.
