Srinagar, Feb 21: Chairman Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq along with senior amalgam leader Shabir Ahmad is meeting envoys of various countries in New Delhi, a statement said here.
“As per the decision taken at Hurriyat Conference executive meeting, Shabir Ahmad Shah is leaving for New Delhi where he along with chairman Hurriyat Conference (M) will meet envoys of various countries with regard to Kashmir issue,” a spokesman of Democratic Party said in a statement after Shah’s meeting with various delegations at party headquarters here.
Commenting on attempts by India and Pakistan to strengthen trade ties, Shabir Shah said that while there was no doubt that a prosperous Indian and Pakistan was important for regional prosperity. However, he said, Kashmir issue was the main obstacle in improving ties between the nuclear power as such its resolution was very imperative.
He said that the road to stable and prosperous south Asia goes through Kashmir. “As principal party to dispute, we want resolution of Kashmir either in light of tight to self determination resolutions in United Nations or through tripartite and meaningful dialogue among Hurriyat
leadership, India and Pakistan,” he said while underling that Kashmir was a political issue and needs resolution through political means. (PBI)
