Militants Wednesday fired a grenade with UBGL toward a joint camp of Army and CRPF in Tahab village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.
A police official said the grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside the camp.
He said that after the grenade, militants also fired some shots which were retaliated and firing continued for some time.
He said no loss of life or property was reported immediately.
Soon after the attack, the area was cordoned off to search the militants.
Senior Superintendent of Police for Pulwama, Chandan Kholi said that militants fired an UBGL toward the joint camp of Army and CRPF at Tahab Pulwama which exploded outside the wall.
"An alert sentry retaliated, however, no loss of life or injury was reported," he said
