Chief Minister (CM)Mehbooba Mufti Saturday visited Sopore to condole with the family of late AtiqaBano, the noted educationist, heritage activist, and senior vice-president AMK, who passed away two days ago.
Chief Minister described late AtiqaBano as a crusader for the upliftment and empowerment of women in the State. She said her untiring efforts through MajlisunNissa to make women in north Kashmir educationally empowered or through the establishment of first of its kind MeerasMahal at Sopore is a lesson for us to be active and serious in contributing to the society and protection of our heritage, culture and language.
Mehbooba Mufti sat with the members of bereaved family of late AtiqaBano, offered fateha and prayed for eternal solace to the departed soul.

Minister for Revenue Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Abdul RehmanVeeriSaturday also visited house of noted cultural activist AtiqaBano at Spore and expressed sympathies with the family.
Minister was accompanied by Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Vice-Chairman, Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation.
They hailed Late AtiqBano's efforts in furthering educational scenario and preserving the past heritage and culture of Kashmir.
Minister for Horticulture, Syed BasharatBukharialso visited Soporeon Saturday to offer personal condolences to the family of Late AtiqaBanoo.
AtiqaBano a noted educationist, heritage activist and former Director, Education and Libraries, breathed her last earlier this week.
Syed BasharatBukhari while recalling the contribution of Late AtiqaBano in preserving Kashmir's heritage and culture said that her contribution is historic which would be very difficult to emulate. He said it was due to her relentless efforts that led to the setting up of first of its kind MeerasMahal at Sopore which the deceased continued to supervise till her death.
Minister also recalled the efforts of AtiqaBano in the spread of education in north Kashmir, particularly among women. He said she was the founder of Majlis-un-Nissa, the first ever women exclusive educational organization in north Kashmir which rendered yeoman's service for educational spread among the young girls of the area for which the late educationist would be remembered for ever
The Minister also prayed for peace to the departed soul of late AtiqaBano and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.
