Masjids can be declared as quarantine centres: DM Pulwama

In view of prevailing health situation due to the Coronavirus pandemic, District Magistrate Pulwama Dr . Raghav Langer Thursday issued an order for requisition of premises particularly of Masjids for quarantine centers .

The order reads that there are apprehensions that various mosques in the district where Tableegi Jamat persons are residing with outside travel history may be vulnerable to spread the infection of COVID-19 to other people visiting there.

The order states that District Magistrate has declared all such mosques be designated as administrative Quarantine Centers under Sec 34 of Disaster Management Act 2005 where concerned Magistrates find the Tableegi Jamat Persons have recently returned from outside and are residing in mosques /Masjids.

The District Administration is continuously appealing the people to adopt social distancing and avoid social and religious gatherings. It has been added that section 144 CrPC is in place throughout the District and violaters shall be dealt accordingly.
