Srinagar, Sept 09: A 55-year-old civilian, Ghulam Mohammed Guroo, who had sustained head injuries in a stone pelting incident at Tengpora byepass Wednesday evening, succumbed at SKIMS Soura here on Thursday.
According to police, Guroo, a resident of Maloora Khujibagh, Sumbal had received a head injury by a brick or stone while traveling along with his two brothers from Letpora to Maloora Sumbal.
“The vehicle they were traveling in was stoned and stopped by stone-throwers at Tengpora. The victim had received head injuries and shifted to SKIMS Soura. He breathed his last Thursday afternoon,” police spokesman said.
Meanwhile, in Chatabal area of the city, hundreds of people came out on streets Thursday evening raising pro-freedom and anti-India slogans during protests against the arrest of scores of local youth the previous day.
In North Kashmir, strict restrictions were imposed by the authorities in Trehgam area of Kupwara district to thwart attempts to stage protests. People staged protests at Palhalan in Pattan area of Baramulla district against the killing of four local residents in police firing on Monday.
