Two militants including a top Lashkar commander were killed in a road accident after the bike they were riding skidded off the road in Warpora area of Sopore in Baramulla district on Monday.
A police official told Rising Kashmir that an unknown militant was killed on spot and his associate injured when their bike bearing number JK05 F0794 skidded off the road at Warpora, 5 kilometres away from Sopore town, after snowfall in the morning.
He said the injured militant was referred to Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura Srinagar (SKIMS), where he succumbed to injuries.
One of the slain militant was identified as 24-year-old Owais Bashir Mir son of Bashir Ahmad Mir of Brath Kalan, Sopore.
Eyewitnesses said they found two bodies lying at a road side at Warpora this morning and informed police.
"One had died while another was unconscious but breathing. We took him to sub district hospital. Their bike was also lying on a side," they said.
SSP Sopore Harmeet Singh said both the deceased were militants.
“One of them was identified as Owais Bashir of Brath Kalan,” he said.
Another police official said Owais was an over ground worker (OGW) and went missing few days back.
He identified the second militant killed in road accident as Chota Dujana of Pakistan.
Chota Dujana was a Lashkar commander, who was active in North Kashmir since May 2017, the official said.
