The newly formulated Jammu and Kashmir Reconciliation Front (JKRF) led by Dr. Sandeep Mawa Monday organized a peace initiative of uniting people of all faiths here at press enclave.
Workers and well wishers of JKRF organized a Hug Campaign focused on Universal brotherhood, tolerance and revival of Kashmiriyat.
In a statement issued to KNS, Chairman of the organization, Sandeep Mawa while interacting with the reporters said, “Kashmir has always been an example of Peaceful Co-existence and as Kashmiris it is our duty not to allow our opportunistic Politicians to divide us and rule us on behalf of our religious identities.”
He further quoted Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) who has said “Beware! Whoever is cruel and harsh to a non-Muslim minority, curtailing their rights, overburdening them, or stealing from them, I will complain (to God) about the person on the Day of Judgment”.
The hug Campaign was organized at Srinagar’s press enclave at 2 PM where three people lined up in front of the hoardings which went on as I am A Kashmiri Pandit, I trust you and respect you, It is very cold , Hug Me and same for I am Muslim and I am Sikh. Soon many people were seen hugging the organizers. Mohammad Yusuf, a local shopkeeper after hugging a Kashmiri Pandit said, “Whatever politicians have to do, I request them don’t divide Kashmiris on the basis of Religion. We were brothers and we are brothers.” Another local Kashmiri Pandit Kuldeep Koul said, “The love and bonding that we Kashmiris share with each other is very strong and let us all unite against those who want to break it.”
The whole atmosphere was charged among slogans Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Itihaad, Zindabaad Zindabaad. These slogans in itself filled the air with reverberation of unity in diversity. Gurmeet Singh, a student while talking to media said, “I salute the spirit of Kashmir and Kashmiris. God bless us all.”
