Industrial Association Khonmoh (IAK) Tuesday accused State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) of nepotism.
In a statement issued, president IAK, Zubair Butt said SIDCO had earlier allotted land to Coca Cola a multinational company on lease few decades ago. “The Coca Cola establishment is sick now and same land as per Industrial policies clause 2.12.3 shall have been put on auction first and allotted to highest bidder.”
He said that it was through national newspaper that, cancellation of lease agreement in favour of the then operating Coca-Cola company was implemented. “A land measuring 10.5 kanal should have been made open for general public through auction for further use by the industrial estate and the parties interested thereof as per the industrial policy,” he said.
He said that SIDCO without following the proper procedure as per the industrial policy has got the land allotted to other party without bringing it in the notice of general public thereby giving a notion that some political influence has backed the whole process. “SIDCO made it appear as genuine allotment thereby hurting the sentiments of unit holders of industrial estate Khonmoh .”
Butt said that around 30% of total 4,000 kanals SIDCO allotted land is at present under sick units. “Most of the establishments/units are developed by large corporations for just tax exemption purposes,” he said.
Industrial Association Khonmoh urged competent authorizes for intervention. “We the unit holders of Industrial Estate Khunmoh urge Minister for Industries and Commerce Department to bring an end to unethical practices in allotment of land.”
