Srinagar, Apr 06: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said the probe ordered by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha into the Ganderbal encounter should proceed without delay, with the aim of establishing facts and placing them before the public.

Speaking to reporters here, the Chief Minister said he would not comment on whether the inquiry should be judicial or magisterial. "Judicial inquiries involve processes related to the appointment of judges and other requirements, which take time. The inquiry should begin without delay, and the findings should be placed before the public," he said.

Omar said the decision to order a magisterial probe will proceed, and the process should be allowed to take its course. "If there is any truth in the matter, it should come out through the inquiry. The aim should be to establish facts and ensure that the outcome is made public," he added.

Referring to statements made by the President of the United States, the CM said the language used in public communication should be in line with the position held. He said certain remarks cannot be repeated without editing in broadcast and raised the issue of maintaining standards in public statements.

Regarding the conflict in West Asia, the Chief Minister expressed concern, saying that the longer it continues, the greater the impact. "There is a need for a ceasefire and for the situation to stabilise. Steps should be taken to end the conflict and bring the situation under control," he said.
