ELFA Intl, GVEI, LAWDA hold joint Dal cleanliness drive

ELFA International in collaboration with Green Valley Educational Institute Srinagar, Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) Srinagar and Mission Dal Lake (by Jannat) organized a Dal Lake cleaning drive on Thursday. This was the second Dal cleaning drive organised by ELFA International after the massive cleaning drive organised on 7th of October, 2018 together with Global Citizen Journey (US based non-profit), a spokesperson said in a statement.
He said the purpose of the drive was to clean the interiors of Dal Lake and raise awareness among the people living in the catchment areas about the historical, economical and ecological importance of Dal Lake.
“About a 100 people participated in the cleaning drive including the students and teachers of Green Valley Educational Institute from different classes, Mission Dal lake members (Tariq Patloo and his daughter Jannat) team members and volunteers of ELFA International,” the spokesperson added.
During the drive heaps of garbage and waste in the form of plastic, glass bottles, polythene bags, kitchen waste, and industrial solid waste were collected and disposed off through proper channels.
Mehran Khan, CEO ELFA International thanked all concerned officials, representatives, activists , school students , staff , volunteers and team members for their dedication, commitment and efforts in making the Dal Lake clean.
