Srinagar July 11:

S J M Gillani, Director Vigilance, met Governor NN Vohra, at the Civil Secretariat today.
Gillani apprised Governor about the present status of the work being done by the State Vigilance Organization; the pendency of cases; reasons for delay in the finalization of enquiries and the lodging of Challans; prolonged delays for conclusion of proceedings in the Trial Courts; inadequacy of staff in the Prosecution Offices of the recently created Anti-Corruption Courts etc.
Governor advised Gillani to prioritise the finalisation of pending enquiries and launch a vigorous campaign for the offenders to be brought to book, the cases of higher level functionaries being taken up among the first lot. Governor asked Director Vigilance to send him a monthly progress report.
