Commissioner Secretary of the government’s Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department, Mehraj-u-Din Khan, convened a meeting on Thursday to review the availability of essential commodities in Kashmir valley in view of upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).
According to a government spokesperson, the meeting was informed that sufficient stocks of food grains, kerosene oil and Liquefied Petroleum Gas are available at all the depots across Kashmir.
“The meeting was informed that about 7.5 lakh quintals of food grains, 4.4 kilo-litres of kerosene oil and 2.83 lack packed LPG cylinders are presently available for the consumers of the Valley,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Khan directed the concerned officers to mobilize all basic units so the commodities reach to the consumers without any delay. He also asked the officers to make full proof arrangements through subordinate units and intensify regular market checking to keep a check on profiteering and hoarding.
“During the meeting, Khan also reviewed the availability of stock position in far-flung and border areas of the Valley and expressed satisfaction with stocks made available before the winter season,” the spokesperson said.
