Imran using mobile phone under detention, should be shifted to Tihar: Manzoor
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday filed a case against Deputy Mayor of SMC, Sheikh Imran for allegedly threatening one of the corporators.
Media Incharge BJP, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat said at around 11.53, Imran, who is presently under detention, called one of their corporators Wajahat and told him that “you are attempting to dislodge me from Deputy Mayor’s post”.
He warned Wajahat that he would take a big step against his family.
The meeting of BJP corporators was being held at party’s Srinagar office when Deputy Mayor threatened the BJP Corporator.
Manzoor said party’s district president, who was present there, recorded the phone call and informed party high command about Imran’s threat.
“On directions of party high command’s, the party district president filed a written complaint against Imran at Police Station Rajbagh,” he said.
He, however, said police have so far shown cold response and not registered FIR against Imran yet.
Manzoor said party corporators are scared and apprehensive after Imran’s threat call.
“How can Imran, who is under detention, use a mobile phone to threaten corporators. Strict action should be taken against him as per law,” he said adding Imran should be shifted to Delhi’s Tihar jail.
The party leaders have approached Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Shahid Choudhary to seek their intervention.
Imran alongwith many other detained mainstream leaders is presently lodged at MLA hostel in Srinagar.
