Display of timidity enough to drown any movement or revolution: Qayoom

SRINAGAR, FEB 04:“Being weak, Kashmiris should enter into a truce with India and Pakistan with certain well thought out conditions,” said former Kashmir Bar President and senior lawyer Nazir Ahmad Ronga. He was speaking at a seerat conference titled “Islamic Revolution and the Political Strategy of Prophet
Muhammad” organized by High Court Bar Association here at High Court complex to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad(PBHU).
His successor Mian Qayoom, presiding over the function, however had an antagonistic take on Rongas opinion. He said, “Display of weakness and timidity are enough to defeat any movement or revolution.”
Ronga while speaking earlier said, “The wisdom is that we enter into a truce agreement with both India
and Pakistan with well thought out and well planned conditions. At the same time we need to adopt Islamic teachings of Unity as well”. Supplicating his views, Ronga made a mention of the Hudaibiyah agreement popularly known as Sulha-e-Hudaiyibiya brokered by the Prophet himself with people of Mecca before its conquest by Muslims. He said that the agreement serves as a best example for kashmiris, teaching them that when one is weak, he should use his wisdom.
While laying stress on attaining good health through sports and intellect through education, he said, “From achieving freedom from Satan, Kashmiris should strive for three things - self-confidence, self-reliance and self-rule”.
In an indirect reference to Ronga’s comments that only education can lead a nation to freedom, Qayoom said, “The true knowledge is attained through “Ishq” (devotion). That is why the bookish knowledge is called Ibn-ul-Kitab , where as the knowledge gained by devotion and love is called Um-ul-Kitab, the mother of books”. He added that bravery and courage are two traits of a Muslim and if someone shows or exhibits weakness and timidity in his character, then this is enough to drown any movement or revolution.
In his presidential address Mian Qayoom shed light on many aspects of Prophet’s Life particularly the beginning of Islamic revolution, saying that the sermon delivered by Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) on Mount Safa was the beginning of Islamic revolution, when he called upon all the people of Mecca and warned them about the day after and resurrection. Touching and discussing different milestones in the Islamic revolution, Qayoom said that the Agreement of Medina called ‘Meesaq-e-Madina’ can be termed as the political dimension of Islamic revolution which was brought in by Prophet Muhammad(PBHU).
Apart from Ronga, Bar Joint Secretary M. Ashraf Wani also spoke on the occasion. He defined many contours of a revolution, besides stating that how a true revolution encompassed a whole change in the society. “First we need to understand what we mean by the term revolution, which means a positive change which changes every aspect of a society, be it political, economic, social or ethical”, Wani said. Explaining this viewpoint he said, “All these changes, which are integral to any true revolution were
part of Prophet Muhammad’s Islamic revolution, which was in itself completed in prophet’s lifetime. This revolution was such a revolution which brought a change in every sphere of life, most importantly this revolution managed to change hearts, which is a true sign of any genuine revolution”.
Senior High Court lawyer, Syed Manzooor said that today’s Muslim world is in disarray only because it has deviated from the true path of Islam. “The Muslim world has forgotten the teachings of Islam. Despite having abundant natural resources and wealth, Muslim world is still in disarray and is being subjugated by the West”, Manzoor said.
The seminar was moderated by Bar Secretary Advocate G.N.shaheen who shed light on many aspects of Islamic revolution particularly the creation of man and the last Hajj sermon, terming it one of
the first charters of universal declaration of human rights. The other speakers who spoke on the occasion include Dr. Kalimullah Khan and Nasir Mirza, who were also the judges to announce the best
speakers of the day. The best speaker prize of Rs. 3000 was awarded to G N Shaheen, where as the second prize of Rs. 2000 was shared by Ashraf Wani and Nazir Tonga. Third prize of Rs.2000 went to Syed Manzoor.
