Army launches major search ops in North Kashmir

Army has launched a search operation  in twin districts of Baramulla and Kupwara to track down the militants hiding in the forests.

According to a local news gathering agncy PBI, army last evening cordoned off a vast portion of forested Bangus Valley in frontier Kupwara district after receiving tip-off about the presence of a group of heavily armed militants in the woods. As the Army started combing operation, militants  opened heavy gunfire on the search team. Amid exchange of fire, sources said militants managed to give slip to the search team.
Army, however in the morning has intensified the search operation this morning to locate the militants.
In the neighboring Baramulla district, Army’s 32 Rashtriya Rifles is continuing  search operations in forest compartment number 21 of Watergam and Saderwan forests.
The search operation, sources said is believed to have been carried out to capture the militants who escaped the Army dragnet in Uri sector last week while sneaking into this side of Line of Control (LoC). Nine militants were killed in the encounter.
