Around eight roads connecting various remote villages with the main town in Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district are still closed as authorities have ‘failed’ to clear snow.
The mobility of the locals in Uri and Boniyar has been hindered by the accumulated snow in, around the roads.
Sarpanch at Zamorpatan Boniyar Noor Hassan said there village is around 20 km from Uri which is located near border area.
“They face various problems owing to the accumulated snow on the road which connects us with other parts of the valley,” he said
He added they can’t transport ill to near hospital.
Abdul Khalik, 60 Sarpanch at Salikote Mothal said that there village is 25 kms from Uri and no road in their village is cleared.
The locals from Churanda Halaka said their village is nearly 11 km from Uri and patients are suffering due to closure of roads.
Similarly residents at Baydan, Maydanan, Dudran, Chotali in Boniyar and Zamarpatan, Churanda, Batgrah in Uri also complained about the problems they face due to snow.
DC Baramullah GN Itoo assured that snow will be cleared within two days.
“Heavy machines are not able clear the roads which are steep. We have to clear the snow manually,” he said.
