An Aadhaar enrolment centre for students was on Saturday inaugurated at Kothi Bagh Girls Higher Secondary School here on the institute’s annual day function.
Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, inaugurated the facility for the students—uptohigher secondary level—of Srinagar district. However, he said teachers and their families who had not yet availed the facility could be covered through the enrolment processas well.
Project Director, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Abdul Rashid War, who is also the Registrar for Aadhaar enrolment of school children, said around 14 lakh students in Jammu and Kashmir were yet to be enrolled for the Aadhaar facility.
Hundred Aadhaar enrolment centres have been set up in Phase-1 in six districts of the state, including Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Doda, Kishtwar and Samba, a government spokesperson said.“The rest of districts will be covered in Phase-2 for which the necessary equipment, machinery and other measures are being undertaken,” he said in a statement.
Addressing the audience, Bukhari said girls are the honour and blessing for the society. He said the Kothi Bagh Higher Secondary School had contributed well in the deliverance of education to girl students in Kashmir.
He promised the school would be developed in such a way so that it comes up as one of the fine schools of the State.
Commenting on the mysterious braid cutting incidents, Bukhari said the people should not take the law in their hands and should cooperate with the police and the administration so that the perpetrators are nabbed.
On the occasion, several cultural items, skits and programmes highlighting social and environmental issues were performed by various groups of girl students and teachers of the Higher Secondary School which was appreciated by the audience.
Later, the Minister distributed mementoes and certificates among the students who fared well in academics and various extra-curricular activities. He also announced Rs 5,000 as a token of appreciation to music teacher, Sabiha, for guiding the students of music.
