Srinagar, Mar 30: The 37th District Srinagar Volleyball Championship for boys and girls concluded at volleyball courts of University of Kashmir on Monday, witnessing high-energy performances and remarkable sportsmanship. In the boys’ category, the University of Kashmir team clinched the championship title with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Srinagar Spartans in the final. The match kept spectators on edge as both teams displayed skillful play and determination, but the hosts ultimately dominated the final moments to secure the win. In the girls’ division, the University of Kashmir once again proved
their dominance by defeating Elite A 2-1 in an equally competitive final. The match highlighted the growing standard of women’s volleyball in the district, with both teams putting up an impressive show. The championship was organized by the District Srinagar Volleyball Association under the aegis of the Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council. A total of 20 teams participated in the boys’ category, while 4 teams competed in the girls’ section. The closing ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Surjit
Singh Bali, Coordinator, Directorate of Physical Education and Sports. Guests of Honour included Dr. Basharat Ali, Dr. Nadeem Ahmad, senior VAJK member Kuldip Magotra, and Treasurer VAJK Mohd Tariq. They appreciated the organization committee and praised the athletes for their discipline and competitive spirit, emphasizing the role of sports in overall development. Individual honours were also awarded, with Mubashir named Best Setter, Kaisar Best Libero, Saqib Rasool Best Attacker, and Haroon Best Blocker. The tournament concluded with the distribution of trophies and medals among the winners and participants.
