4-day workshop on ‘Internet of Things’ commences

Four Day Workshop on ‘Internet of Things’ begins today at Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST). The Workshop is being organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering-IUST in association with INTEL-FICE. The objective of the workshop is to enhance students’ employability by bridging gap between industry and academia, in order to pave a way for student’s participation in leading contests like Intel Ideation Camp, Smart Village Expo etc.
Vice Chancellor-IUST, Prof. Mushtaq A. Siddiqi, while addressing the gathering encouraged the students by sharing his own experience in the field of internet and information technology. His talk included the developments in the field of internet. He also deliberated upon the future plans of the IUST in developing strong and efficient associations with reputed institutions and industries for the career development of the students.Rapid developments in the technology has created new opportunities for students to take advantage of internet, he added.
Speaking on the occasion Manager-Technical Support, FICE-Intel, Suryender Kumar highlighted the initiatives taken by INTEL in the field of Internet of Things. He informed that under the Intel College Excellence Programme, Department of Computer Science and Engineering-IUST is setting up INTEL® Intelligent System Lab which will act as a centralized facility for all disciplines of engineering and technology of IUST. Among others, the workshop was attended by Deans and HoDs of various schools/departments, faculty members and students of the varsity.
