‘22 sittings, 110 hours of proceedings, 8 bills passed’

Jammu, Apr 04: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday presented the details of House Business for the Budget Session 2026, informing that the session witnessed 22 sittings consuming a total of 110 hours and 6 minutes of proceedings.

The Speaker informed that eight Government bills were received, introduced, and passed in the House, while 25 papers and one Ordinance were also laid.

Regarding Private Members' business, Rather apprised the House that 36 previous pending Private Members' Bills and 39 new Private Members' Bills were received, out of which 36 were admitted, and three were disallowed. A total of 72 bills were listed, 24 were taken up, and two bills were introduced.

On questions raised in the House, the Speaker informed that 1,528 Assembly Questions (AQs) were received, including 802 starred and 726 un-starred. Of these, 1,379 AQs were listed, 151 were taken up, 144 were disallowed, two were withdrawn, and three were not listed. Additionally, 331 supplementaries were raised.

He also informed that 110 Calling Attention Notices were received, out of which 63 were disallowed and 47 admitted. Of the admitted notices, 26 were listed and taken up.

Regarding resolutions, the Speaker stated that 128 resolutions were received, out of which 101 were admitted and 27 disallowed. Of the admitted resolutions, 14 were balloted, 14 listed, and four taken up, while no resolution was adopted.

On short-duration notices, he apprised the House that two notices were discussed during the session. He also informed that 2,231 cut motions were received, out of which 2,059 were allowed and 172 were disallowed.
