Jammu, Mar 07: The state government Monday admitted that as many as 119 persons died and 1072 persons were injured in man-animal conflict across the state during past few years.
In a written reply to the query MLC Nizam-ud-din Khatana, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Mian Altaf said that the wildlife department has received few cases of losses of human lives and live stock due to man animal conflict. “ In Kashmir’s Central Wildlife Warden 119 persons were injured among wish 16 people died while as in North wildlife warden 293 persons were injured among which 40 persons succumbed and in wildlife warden Islamabad 443 persons were injured in man animal conflict among which 39 persons were killed,” a detailed report said.
It was also mentioned that in wildlife warden of Shopian 53 persons were injured among which one person died. “Seven people were injured in wildlife warden wetland among which two persons died,” the report said.
In Ladakh region three persons were injured.
In Jammu wildlife warden five persons were injured. “In wildlife warden Kishtiwar 70 persons were injured among which 6 persons were killed,” the report said.
The minister further added that in wildlife warden, Rajouri, 79 persons were injured. “Fifteen persons were killed in that region,” the report added.
