Kashmir, Jammu zones winter vacations announced

Srinagar, Nov 25: The School Education Department (SED) on Tuesday announced the winter vacation schedule for schools in the Kashmir division and the winter zones of the Jammu division. The break will be observed in a phased manner across different classes. According to an official order issued by Secretary School Education Department, Ram Niwas Sharma, winter vacations for Pre-primary (Balvatika) classes will begin from November 26, 2025 and will continue till February 28, 2026. For Class 1 to 8, the vacations will be observed from December 1, 2025 to February 28, 2026, while for Class 9 to 12, the winter break will commence from December 11, 2025 and conclude on February 22, 2026. The Secretary said that all teaching faculty must remain available for any academic activity assigned during the vacation period. “The teaching staff shall report back to their respective schools on February 20, 2026 for making necessary arrangements regarding the reopening of schools,” Sharma said. He further stated that any default on the part of heads of institutions or teaching staff in following the schedule will invite strict action under rules.
