Srinagar, Oct 01: Throwing a big surprise at a time when there is job crisis in the state government Tuesday said over 2015 posts are vacant in the State Forest Department. These include 1762 non-Gazetted, 57 Gazetted and 196 Class IV posts.
This was revealed in a written reply from government to a query tabled by MLC of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Muhammad Ashraf Mir in the ongoing session of Legislative Council. Mir had sought information about cadre and wing-wise vacant posts in Forest Department.
As per the official reply, there are 30 Gazetted posts vacant in Force Protection Force wing and 92 Non-Gazetted posts vacant in Pollution Control Board (PCB).
Moreover 1473 non-gazetted posts are vacant in Forest (territorial) wing, while 74 and 65 gazetted posts are vacant in Wildlife and Soil Conservation Departments respectively. “156 class IV posts are vacant in Fisheries Department as well,” reads the written reply from government.
About the people engaged from past three years on need basis, daily wagers and consolidated in district Srinagar, Ganderbal and Bandipora government said that only skilled/unskilled laborers were put to work (on need basis) as and when required for field work. “Their number varies from time to time depending upon quantum of work.”
About the measures taken to control man animal conflicts, government said the control room in central division Srinagar is being looked after by the Wildlife staff of Dachigam National Park on rotation basis with necessary equipment like tranquillizing gun, firecrackers, cage and net.
Also, government has engaged 38 people for Conflict Resolution Squad (CRS) on casual basis in Srinagar, Ganderbal and Baramulla district to address the alarming situation due to man animal conflict. Out of total 38, 25 have been engaged for five squads of Ganderbal, five in Srinagar and eight in Baramulla district. However, no such engagements have been made in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. “The persons were engaged on the recommendations of the concerned Panchayats.”
