Geelani seeks bail

ISHFAQ TANTRY
Srinagar, Nov 18: Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday moved a bail application before magistrate in Srinagar a day after being arrested from Government Medical College, here.
The magistrate did not pass the orders today.
Geelani’s counsels moved a bail application before First Class Magistrate in Srinagar against the booking of Hurriyat (G) chairman under Section  151 and 167 RPC in Police Station Karan Nagar.

The bail application further reads, “Geelani has been arrested by police on frivolous grounds on November 17 and continues to languish in police custody for no fault of his. He is an elderly and ailing person and if not released forthwith, there is every apprehension that he may collapse in the custody.”
One of the counsels of Geelani Advocate Shabir told  Rising Kashmir, “We have sought bail for  Hurriyat (G) chairman, who was arrested by cops from Police Station Karan Nagar and booked under section 151 and 167.”
Geelani was arrested by cops on Tuesday while he was proceeding to  GMC Srinagar, where he was supposed to interact with the medical students. In the evening, he was shifted to SKIMS.
Earlier in the day, Geelani had addressed a press conference at his Hyderpora residence and refuted police claims that he was a “free man.
