Kashmiri sacrifices won’t go vain: Gillani

Muzaffarabad, Oct 26: Pakistan Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gillani has called upon the United Nations to act robustly to resolve Kashmir issue for the sake of lasting peace in South Asia.
“The sacrifices and just stand of Kashmiris will bear fruit,” he asserted here on Monday while accompanying Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the later’s to Pakistan administered Kashmir’s capital.
Gilani pointed out that Pakistan and Turkey shared same policy and approach on regional and international issues and seized the opportunity to highlight the importance of the settlement of lingering Kashmir issue for regional peace.
Calling upon Ankara to fully support Pakistan’s principled stand on Kashmir, he reiterated Pakistan’s desire to maintain friendly ties with its neighbours, but added that the blood of Kashmiris would not go in vain.
Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was delighted by the development in the town following the devastating earthquake in 2005.
Shortly after his arrival, Erdogan, who was on his second visit to Muzaffarabad in four years, inspected and inaugurated several facilities built by his country to underline special bonds of brotherhood between Ankara and Islamabad.
According to officials, the visiting leader first inaugurated the Khurshid National Library and planted a sapling in its lawn. From there, he arrived at the nearby multi-purpose community hall where schoolchildren and university students, waving the flags of Turkey, Pakistan and AJK, greeted him with welcoming slogans. He also watched young boys and girls playing some indoor games.
At the community hall, the visiting leaders were hosted a reception by PaK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan which was also attended by PaK PM Raja Farooq Haider and several legislators.
Briefly speaking on the occasion, Erdogan said he felt extremely pleased to see Muzaffarabad in a much better condition four years after the quake.
“Its really heart-warming to see people having returned to normal life in such a short span of time as well as exquisite buildings,” he said, adding, “Turkey will continue to extend all possible cooperation and support to its Kashmiri brethren.”
Before departure, Mr Erdogan also unveiled a plaque and offered prayers at the splendid Osmania Masjid, facing the PM House.
Construction of Osmania mosque and Khurshid National library was additionally approved by the Turkish government alongside the mega district headquarters complex which includes offices and residential quarters as well as the multi purpose community hall and a shopping plaza.
Turkey has rendered services in rescue, relief and reconstruction following the earthquake.
