Srinagar, Sep 01:
Army Tuesday claimed that Pakistani army violated the border ceasefire by firing on an Indian post in Poonch district and killing a trooper while a policeman was killed and an army man injured during the ongoing gunfight with militants in Baramulla.

BGS Information northern command, Brigadier Murli told Rising Kashmir that Pakistani army men fired on an Indian post along Line of Control in Mendhar sector of Poonch district.
“As a result of Pakistani firing, a Lance Naik identified as Dag Bahadur Gurung was killed,” he said.
Murli said Indian army did not retaliate. “Our higher ups have taken up the issue with Pakistan army,” he said.
India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and international border in Kashmir in November 2003.
Recently, Indian Defence Minister A K Antony had stated in parliament that 110 incidents of ceasefire violations had taken place along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir since 2006. “These included 47 incidents of trans-LoC firing. Indian side suffered nine fatal and 25 non-fatal casualties,” he said.
