2 IEDs recovered in south Kashmir

Pulwama, Apr 23:Security forces detected and destroyed two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in south Kashmir’s Pulwama and Shopian districts on Friday, police said.

One IED was detected today morning at Circle Road in south Kashmir's Pulwama district and was subsequently destroyed by a Bomb Disposal Squad without any damage, a police official said.

Police sources said that a major tragedy was averted.

Superintendent of police Pulwama confirmed the incident to Rising Kashmir.

In the late afternoon, another IED was recovered in the Gagren area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district but no damage took place.

As per police sources, a low intensity IED in a bag was thrown towards a police vehicle in the Gagran area of Shopian which was later defused.

“IED has been defused and a major incident was averted. The weight of IED was around 6 KG.”

Police have started investigations in both incidents.
