Srinagar, Jan 09: The district administration Baramulla has ordered the temporary closure of the Baramulla-Uri national highway at two vulnerable locations on Sunday (January 11) in view of hill-cutting works and apprehensions of landslides.
According to an order issued by the office of District Magistrate, the road will remain closed at Danakha Mode (Design Chainage 65+600) and NS Bridge, Uri (Design Chainage 102+800) from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The decision follows a communication from the Officer Commanding, 53 RCC (GREF), who informed the administration that hill-cutting work is scheduled to be carried out at the two locations on the said date.
Owing to the nature of the work, there is a high risk of landslides, making it unsafe for vehicular movement during the execution period.
The order further noted that minor landslides have occurred on the stretch in the recent past, prompting the need for temporary traffic restrictions to ensure public safety and prevent any loss of life or property.
The District Magistrate has directed the closure of the road during the specified hours in the interest of public safety.
Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly and cooperate with the authorities during the execution of the work.
