Srinagar, Jan 09: The Municipal Council Baramulla has informed residents and business establishments of the town and its adjoining areas that it is providing door-to-door solid waste collection services for households, shopkeepers, hotels, restaurants, and other commercial units. In an official notice issued by the office of the Chief Executive Officer, a copy of which is with Rising Kashmir reads that the civic body urged residents, traders, and business owners to hand over their segregated daily waste to municipal sanitation staff at the designated time and make proper use of the facility. The Municipal Council has strictly prohibited littering or dumping of garbage and other solid waste on roads, streets, river banks, drains, public places, or any open land within the municipal limits of Baramulla. Officials warned that such practices not only pose serious health hazards but also harm the environment and adversely affect the town’s civic appearance. “Any person found violating these instructions shall be liable to penal action under the relevant provisions of the Municipal Act and allied rules,” the notice stated. The Municipal Council has appealed to the general public to cooperate with the sanitation drive and contribute towards making Baramulla a clean, healthy, and litter-free town.
