Extends support to Omar Govt, says UPA would continue to help JK Govt

Jammu, Nov 14: Extending full support to J&K Government, Union Health Minister and former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Thursday said assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir would be held on proper time.
“The assembly elections would be conducted after a year. The ruling coalition alliance would successfully complete their term next year,” Azad said during his visit to Khari and Ukhral areas of Banihal tehsil of Ramban district.
He was accompanied by Minister of State and MLA Banihal Vikar Rasool and Member Parliament (MP) Ch Lal Singh.
Assuring full support to J&K Government, Azad said, “UPA Government would continue its support and help to J&K Government for development as was done in the past”.
While addressing people, he said he has not come to Banihal for votes but to review the ongoing developmental works in the region.
“I have not come here to seek votes in view of elections. I have more attachment with the rural and remote areas of the region and wanted to see the works taken up under various schemes,” he said.
Azad said under UPA regime in New Delhi, the rural areas of J&K have seen large scale development.
“Health department has also started new schemes and government hospitals across the country provide free of cost treatment to the people,” he said adding a newly born to 18 year-old can avail free of cost treatment in any of the government hospitals across the country.
He said free of cost scheme will be launched for the nomadic Gujjar community in the government hospitals soon.
Later, in the afternoon, Azad left for Kishtwar district, where he met various deputations at Deputy Commissioner’s office.
During his interaction with different deputations, he stressed on the people to maintain communal harmony in the hilly district.
Meanwhile, supporters of National Conference MLA Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo and Congress leader from Kishtwar Jugal Bandhari protested against the administration for poor arrangements.
They staged protest demonstration after their entry was not allowed in the hall, where Azad was holding interaction with the people since it was jam packed.
However, after the intervention of the administration, both the leaders were allowed to enter the halls.
Later, former minister and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammed Saroori hosted dinner for Azad at his residence in Kishtwar.
The Union Health Minister alongwith MLA Saroori, MP Ch Lal Singh will visit Bunjwah, Thathri, Bhaleesa areas of Inderwal constituency besides other areas of the district tomorrow.
