Srinagar , April 24 : The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has exposed a fresh case of alleged large-scale land fraud involving Custodian land in Jammu district. Officials said on Friday that three new FIRs have been registered in the ongoing investigation.

According to the ACB spokesperson, thousands of kanals of Custodian land in Asarwan, Mishriwala, Bhalwal and R.S. Pura areas of Jammu were allegedly grabbed illegally by land mafia groups. This was reportedly done in connivance with certain “Form Alaf” holders and some officials of the Revenue Department.

The bureau said its verification revealed that over 1,000 kanals of land were wrongly shown as allotted to displaced persons through fake or fraudulent orders. These allotments were made to individuals who were not eligible for additional land.

Officials added that in many cases, mutations were attested either without proper government approval or on the basis of forged orders. The land was later sold or transferred to other persons, causing a loss to the government exchequer.

The ACB further stated that there is evidence of involvement of revenue officials, including patwaris, girdawars, naib tehsildars, and tehsildars, along with private individuals.

Based on these findings, three fresh FIRs have been registered at the ACB Central police station in Jammu and Kashmir. The cases have been filed under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, along with charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery, and fraud.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests or recoveries may follow as the probe continues.

Authorities have said they are committed to taking strict action against all those involved in illegal land dealings.
