Srinagar, May 16: A drain constructed near Palladium Lane, Lal Chowk is craving for attention for the past two years. The drain was constructed to overcome drainage problems in the area but has now become nightmare of sorts for the residents.
The drain was constructed two years ago by Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). According to locals, due to the sub-standard material used for the construction, it has turned into a gutter.
“The drain was constructed to ease drainage flow. But it turned into a cesspool within five months of its construction,” said a local, Shafat Ahmad.

Srinagar, May 15: Dozens of students, doctors, social activists and media professionals held a candle light vigil to raise their concerns against the rampant corruption in the state of J&K here on Tuesday evening.
Holding placards reading “Let us light the candle for betterment of tomorrow”, the anti-corruption activists under the banner of Kashmir Corruption Watch (KCW) assembled on Dal banks and vowed that they will never give any kind of bribe to any official and will instead lodge a complaint against the person.

Srinagar, May 14: Panic gripped Kashmir University campus as police resorted to aerial firing on Monday after a spat between the players and policemen over a cricket ball hitting Vice Chancellor’s office lawn.
The incident took place when the ball went inside the lawn of the KU Vice Chancellor during the warm-up session at the beginning of the second innings of the inaugural match of Kashmir Premier League (KPL) being organized by Army.
