Rising Kashmir News Srinagar, Nov 9: Joined by scores of unemployed youth from Srinagar district, the Kupwara Bachaw Committee (KBC) Monday held a strong protest demonstration against the inter-district recruitments. From past more than one month, KBC is spearheading protests against the inter-district recruitments and “discrimination” against Kashmiri youth in government jobs. MLA Langate Engineer Rashid, who is the spokesman of KBC and MLA Lolab, Abdur Haq Khan, who is the convener of KBC, along with more than hundred young protestors from Kupwara and Srinagar districts gathered in press enclave here to press their demand of putting ban on inter-district recruitment. The protestors chanted slogans against government for letting people from three districts of Jammu to get lion’s share in the government jobs. Rashid and Khan along with scores of agitating youth called on the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir against the recruitment of forest guards on inter-district basis by Service Selection Recruitment Board. “This is a policy of requirement where in people from three to four districts of Jammu get selected in other districts of the state especially district Kupwara,” said Rashid. He said that the policy has affected the future of unemployed youth of Kashmir division and other backward districts of state. Khan chipped in by saying, “Unfortunately the unemployed youth of Kashmir are even refused class IV posts in the ongoing selections. In the recent selection a bulk of people have been selected in Kashmir division from other districts of Jammu by virtue of which not only the Kashmir youth has been deprived of jobs, but the people who have been selected have managed to go back to their respective residential places along with posts.” He added that in the last fortnight, 226 posts in health department have been allocated for Jammu division only, ‘which peaks the gross discrimination.” Meanwhile, scores of youth from Srinagar district were part of the protest. “Kashmiris are being discriminated against. We are being denied jobs. We will not tolerate it,” said Idrees Ahmad, a youth from Nishat. The protestors demanded that interviews for the forest guards should be stopped forthwith. “If this is not done we will gherao and lock up SSRB Office on November 13,” the protestors said.
