7 Drug Peddlers Arrested Across Kashmir

Srinagar, April 27:-  Continuing its anti-narcotics drive under the 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police on Monday arrested seven drug peddlers from different parts of the Valley and recovered significant quantities of contraband substances.

 

In Anantnag district, police seized around 110 kg of ganja from a vehicle at Shalgam Crossing and arrested Nazir Ahmad Khatana. In a separate operation, about 51 kg of charas-like substance was recovered from a house in Watrigam Dialgam, while another accused was held with nearly 5 kg of charas powder at Sakhras Crossing. Additionally, 170 grams of charas-like substance along with ₹18,700 in cash was recovered from a suspect in Bijbehara.

 

In Handwara, a suspected peddler was apprehended by a police team from PP Chogul after he attempted to flee, with charas-like substance recovered from his possession. In Baramulla’s Palhalan area, police recovered around 150 grams of contraband from a local resident, while in Shopian, 144 grams of charas-like substance was seized from an accused at Keegam.

 

All the accused have been booked under relevant sections of law, and further investigations are underway to trace the source and dismantle wider drug networks. Police reiterated their commitment to eliminating drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
