Srinagar, Apr 30: In a major push to strengthen rail security across Jammu and Kashmir, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Railways Waseem Qadri on Thursday said that 3,000 CCTV cameras have been installed on the railway tracks to maintain round-the-clock monitoring, aimed at preventing untoward incidents and enhancing passenger safety.
He said the system has been linked with centralised control rooms, enabling real-time tracking and swift coordination among security agencies.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the arrival of the direct Vande Bharat train from Jammu to Srinagar, SSP Qadri said special attention has been given to sensitive and vulnerable sections of the track, where additional surveillance and manpower have been deployed.
"Alongside the high-tech monitoring system, railway police personnel have been stationed strategically, with regular patrolling intensified to maintain law and order," he said.
The SSP appealed to passengers to stay alert and report any suspicious activity, emphasising that public cooperation remains key to ensuring a safe travel environment.
The initiative is expected to significantly bolster security infrastructure and provide a safer, more reliable railway experience across the region.
